New Records in ArkivDigital

During October, many new records have been added to ArkivDigital’s online library. We have added not only Swedish records but records from Kansas in the United States and Åland, Finland.

We mentioned previously about our photographing activities in Kansas in the blog, Swedish American Church Books from Kansas, USA. Only a small portion of the Kansas Swedish American church books are online today. Much more will be added in the near future.

Earlier, we have photographed many documents from Åland in Finland. However, we did not photograph the seamen house records.  Currently, we are photographing and publishing records from Mariehamn’s seamen house and Vårdö’s seamen house. New material is being added regularly. Read about our Åland records here.

As for the Swedish records, our focus has been on the estate inventories. A few weeks ago we published a blog giving a status on the availability of estate inventories in ArkivDigital. Click here to read the blog. Since then, we now have completed adding all the estate inventories for Göteborgs och Bohus, Norrbotten and Västernorrland counties up to and including 1930 and for Stockholm city up to and including 1921.

Military records that have recently been added include more documents from the so-called C-byrån, which covered military intelligence outside of Sweden during the Second World War along with more military pension documents. More information about the pension documents will be published in a future blog.

New Records in ArkivDigital

Produktkatalog

Our online library has over 56 million images which equates to about 112 million pages of Swedish historical records. Many records were added to ArkivDigital recently. Below is a summary of the highlights.

Military – Soldiers and military intelligence
If you are interested in researching soldiers and military history, we have added some new materials. We have begun to add some military pension documents as well as documents from the so-called C-byrån, which covered military intelligence outside of Sweden during the Second World War. You will find military pension documents in the archive Krigskollegium Krigsmanshuskontoret, and also in the rolls from the Navy’s pension archive or Flottans pensionskassa.

Estate Inventories (Bouppteckningar)
We continue to add more estate inventories (bouppteckningar) to the online archive. Estate inventories for Stockholm city up to 1914 are now available and Kalmar, Kronoberg, Uppsala and Västmanland counties are now available up to 1920. Gävleborg county is now complete up to 1930. Kristianstad and Malmöhus counties are now complete and accessible up to 1940 and we now have estate inventories up to 1945 for Värmland county. In addition, estate inventories have been added for other counties.
