Happy New Year from ArkivDigital!

happy new yearTomorrow is New Year’s Eve and all of us at ArkivDigital wish all of you a Happy New Year and much success with your research in 2015.

During 2014, we photographed many new records and now have more than 51 million color images for historical research in our online archive.  We have focused on photographing county and district population/tax registers (mantalslängder) from earliest times to 1820, seaman house records along with estate inventories (bouppteckningar) for the years 1901 to 1940. In addition many other types of records have been added to the archive during the year.

We launched two blogs this year: one in Swedish and one in English. In addition we have published a beginner’s handbook in Swedish for new researchers, “Börja släktforska med ArkivDigital” (Begin to research with ArkivDigital).  Even though it is in Swedish, some English readers have found it helpful. For the second consecutive year, ArkivDigital has received the Di Gasell-utmärkelsen, an award recognizing that we are a rapidly growing company (Link to Swedish press release). We have in addition entered a multiyear research partnership with Blekinge Tekniska Högskola, with the goal to further develop innovative methods for image processing and image analysis (Link to Swedish press release).

In August 2014, ArkivDigital was the head sponsor for Genealogy Days (Släktforskardagarna)  in Karlstad and we will again be the head sponsor for Genealogy Days (Släktforskardagarna) in Nyköping  in 2015.  We also participated in North America’s largest genealogy conference, RootsTech in Salt Lake City,Utah, and we will return again this February.

We look forward to an equally exciting 2015. Happy New Year!
