Our birth index makes it considerably easier to find the person you are searching for. You do not need to browse page after page in the birth books. Now a quick search in the index is sufficient. When you find the correct person, you can click to the original source record to verify the information in the birth book.

The following information is searchable in the birth book:

  • Birth date
  • Baptismal date
  • Child’s first name
  • Birth place (village, farm, etc.)
  • Birth parish
  • Parents’ first name and last name, their title/occupation and age (this information is missing however for certain parishes and years when it comes to information from Stockholm).

There are now approximately 2.4 million entries in the index, Births, parts of Sweden. We continue to update the index with more counties so keep an eye on our blog and other social media for information about updates.
