New program software – completely browser-based

Test our new software that is totally browser-based. (Click here for original article in Swedish.) No software download is required. With the new Web version, you can now also test Archive Digital 2.0 on tablet devices, such as the Android and the iPad. It works best with the Google Chrome browser, but it can also run on Safari, Firefox and Edge. Note that it does not work with Internet Explorer.

Remember – it is important to always keep your browser updated. The Web version doesn’t work as well in older browser versions even if the browser is supported by ArkivDigital.

The biggest visible change is that the tabs (now called “Current”), and History are moved to the left side. This change expands the image size so you can see more information at the same time versus having the placement of the tabs above the image. You can adjust the size of the panel to the left, depending on screen size and resolution.

Special Note in the Household Record’s Comments Column

Sometimes the ministers would write small notes in the church books in the special circumstances or comments column (omständigheter) about an individual. In the above image, the notation about Eric Andersson catches one’s attention.

The minister wrote next to Eric Andersson’s name “ganska svårt ofärdig, men dock starkt aflande” or “rather seriously crippled but still seriously procreating”. Maybe the minister was not so pleased that the Eric had so many children or how should one interpret the minister’s note?
