Previously, we added index entries for the Eskilstuna area (see previous blog) and Kronoberg county (see previous blog). Nederluleå belonged to one of Sweden’s more populated rural parishes, which explains the large number of index entries. The parish received its name in 1831 when Överluleå was broken out to its own parish. The combined parish which existed previously was named Luleå parish. For the period prior to 1831, the index includes the combined parish which means even the area which today includes Överluleå parish.

Since Nederluleå is now part of the birth, marriage and death register, two goals have now been achieved. One, the register now comprises a total of more than two million entries and secondly it also includes entries that have been prepared by a private individual. The records that were added to the index previously were created by  societies or organizations. Our goal for the long run is that the index will cover all of Sweden and in order to achieve this goal, it is important for different types of partnerships, both big and small!
