We have updated our marriage index with 84,783 new searchable name posts for persons who married in Stockholm and Älvsborg counties for the years 1800-1840. After this update, you can search by name all marriages in Sweden for the years 1800-1840. The marriage index is our second index which is complete for these years; earlier we completed the birth index for the years 1800-1840.
The marriage index makes it easier for you to find your ancestors’ marriage records. It means that you no longer need to browse page by page in the marriage books in different parishes, but only make a search in our index. When you have found the bridal couple and marriage that you are seeking, you can simply click on a link that takes you directly to the original source where you can double check the information.
The following information is searchable in the marriage index:
- Marriage parish
- Marriage date
- First and last name of bride and groom
- Residence of bride and groom
There are now a total of 1,896,172 posts in the index, Marriages parts of Sweden. We will continue to update this index so watch our blog and other social media to get information about all updates.
