During the late 1800’s, the boatman rolls (båtsmansrullorna) were created for the Navy seamen (båtsmän). These records are a gold mine for those interested in researching Navy seamen. We can discover a description of his physical appearance, where and how he served and even if he was punished for any infractions. In a previous blog, Boatman rolls (Båtsmansrullor) a unique source, which was published a few years ago, you can get more information about these records and also see a detailed example showing the Naval career for Gustaf Johansson Blå.
