More Images of Farms in ArkivDigital

In previous blogs, we have written about the volumes of Svenska Gods och Gårdar available in ArkivDigital’s online archive. (Click here for blog published on July 20th and click here for blog published on November 18, 2019.). There are more than 50 volumes giving descriptions and pictures of farms throughout Sweden.

Besides the more than 50 volumes of Svenska Gods och Gårdar we have other archival collections which also include descriptions of estates and farms within Sweden as well as written texts describing the region and parish. In some cases, you will find written histories of the area.

The volumes in the Bygd och folk archive are for the following regions:

  • Bohuslän
  • Gävleborg
  • Jämtland
  • Västerbotten
  • Ångermanland

The volumes in the Svensk hembyd archive are for the following regions:

  • Hälsingland
  • Uppsala & Stockholm
  • Västmanland
  • Ångermanland

The Svenska samhällen archive includes only one volume:

  • Dalarna och Gästrikland

The volumes in the Svenska städer och samhällen archive are for the following regions:

  • Bergslagen: västra
  • Södermanland:III

The volumes in the Svenska villor archive are for the following areas:

  • Skaraborg: Norra
  • Skaraborg: Södra
  • Västmanland: Västra
  • Västmanland:Östra

You can find these additional archives by going to app.arkivdigital.se, select archive search and then select archive type, printed literature. These collections are included in the archive list.

NEW! Name searchable birth index 1800-1840 in Kalmar county

We have again updated the index, Births, parts of Sweden, and this time we have made it easier for you who search for ancestors born in Kalmar county for the years 1800-1840.The updating includes approximately 199,956 searchable name entries.

The birth index is a great help when you research since you can quickly find the correct person with a simple search. Then you can then click directly to the original source in order to verify the information in the birth book.

You will find the following information in the index record:

  • Birth date
  • Baptismal date
  • Child’s first name
  • Birth place (village, farm, etc.)
  • Birth parish
  • Parent’s names, titles/occupations and ages

There are now approximately 2.9 million index entries in the index, Births, parts of Sweden. We will be updating the indexes with more counties so watch our blogs for information about future updates.
