For genealogy researchers, the estate inventories are an important resource. Here you find information about the deceased’s heirs. There is a list of all the deceased’s assets and debts which helps you understand better your ancestor’s life.

Our index makes it much easier to find the correct estate inventory, something which in ordinary cases can be quite time consuming since the estate inventories are not organized in an exact order. We launched our estate inventory in 2017 and since then we have added more material on several occasions.

You can search in the estate inventory index by name, the year in which the estate inventory was performed, along with county and parish where the person died. When you search by year, it is important to note that the estate inventory may not have been created in the same year as the person died. It is recommended to include a year range from the year of death and maybe a couple of years in the future.

The estate inventory index includes searchable name entries for estate inventories for the following counties: Gotland, Gävleborg, Göteborg och Bohus, Jämtland, Jönköping, Kalmar, Kronoberg, Norrbotten, Skaraborg, Stockholm, Södermanland, Uppsala, Värmland, Västerbotten, Västernorrland, Västmanland, Älvsborg and Östergötland. We will continue to add entries to the estate inventory index. Watch our blogs, newsletters and other social media for updates.Ö

For you who do family research, the estate inventories are an important source. Here you can find information about family as information about the deceased’s heirs are noted in the estate inventory. You will find information about the deceased’s assets and debts and often there is detailed list of the deceased’s possessions.

Our index makes it easier to find the correct estate inventory, since usually it can be time consuming since the estate inventories are not organized in exact date order.  In 2017, we launched our estate inventory index and since then we have added material several times.

In the estate inventory index, you can search by name, year when the estate inventory was created along with the county and parish where the deceased person lived. When you search by year, one should remember that the estate inventory was not always created the same year of the person’s death.  Therefore, search with a time interval beginning with the death years and a couple of years out.

The estate inventory index now includes searchable name information for estate inventories from the following counties: Gotland, Gävleborg, Göteborg och Bohus, Jämtland, Jönköping, Kalmar, Kronoberg, Norrbotten, Skaraborg, Stockholm, Södermanland, Uppsala, Värmland, Västerbotten, Västernorrland, Västmanland, Älvsborg and Östergötland. We will continue to add more information so watch for additional information in our blog and Facebook.

NEW! Land registration index for the Northern Gotland district archive

Thanks to our rewarding partnerships with associations and private individuals, we can continuously publish new indexes and also update existing ones. We do this to help  genealogists as the indexes make it easier to find the correct records in the church books and other documents.

The latest index that we have added in ArkivDigital is the land registration index for Northern Gotland’s district archive. We have access to this index thanks to Kjell Swebilius, who has improved an older register established by the Regional Archives in Visby.

The land registration index covers the years 1800-1870 and is searchable by farm name, parish and year. The index includes about 35,000 index entries.

ArkivDigital has also photographed the land registration protocol (lagfartsprotokoll) which is the basis for the index. This means that there is direct link to the original document from the index record so that one can easily find more information.
