Norrland seamen houses are currently being photographed

ArkivDigital has photographed many records for Swedish seamen houses (sjömanshus) over the past few years. There is a good coverage of seamen houses for Southern Sweden in ArkivDigital but the coverage for Norrland seamen houses has been limited. Now for all who are interested in seamen houses in Norrland, new records are being added.

The photographing of the Norrland seamen house records began in spring 2017. We have now added records for four seamen houses from the oldest times to 1940. The four houses that are now complete are Haparanda, Luleå, Piteå and Skellefteå. Currently, we are photographing records for the Umeå seaman house. We are photographing a selection of documents from each seaman house primarily different types of rolls, such as muster and seaman rolls.

We will be adding more seamen house records from Norrland in the future. Our first goal is to complete photographing the Umeå seaman house records. Then we will continue with the seamen houses in Härnösand, Sundsvall, Örnsköldsvik, Gävle, Hudiksvall and Söderhamn.
